Training the Untrainable Webinar - 1 May 2019

SCA's next webinar to be held on Wednesday 1 May 2019 is titled, Training the Untrainable: The Effects of Cross-Education Training in Muscular Strength and is presented by Dr Chiara Tomassoni.

Ipsilateral strength training has been shown to cross-transfer on the untrained limb. It provides for increased activation, muscular strength, and corticospinal excitability. These effects are important factors in improving patient outcomes post-injury, and should not be ignored when considering rehabilitation strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Review of the basic physiology behind cross-education training
  • Understanding the effects of ipsilateral strength training on contralateral limb strength
  • Recognising the role of cross-education training in injury rehabilitation
