Careers in Chiropractic
Do you want a career in healthcare in which you can:
Help your patients foster wellness,
opposed to treating disease?
Chiropractors focus on promoting better health via better body
function, rather than on drugs and surgery.
Through extensive five year full-time university training,
chiropractors are able to offer their patients comprehensive holistic
care to foster overall wellness.
Chiropractors are equipped to provide specialist advice on a
range of issues affecting healthy lifestyles including exercise and
nutrition – making chiropractic one of the most versatile forms of
healthcare available.

Work your own hours and manage your own
business?
Upon graduating, doctors of chiropractic are equipped with the skills
and knowledge to establish a private practice should they choose, and
benefit from the independence associated with self-employment such as
variable work hours and off time, and convenience of business location.
Through the establishment of a private practice, doctors of chiropractic
also act as important healthcare providers in local communities.

Earn a potentially high
income?
Income alone is not a reason to choose a career in healthcare.
However, it is an important factor to consider when pursuing any
professional career. While income in the profession depends on a number
of variables including practice size and patient load, the earning
potential in chiropractic is good.

Join a profession with a rich history and
an even brighter future?
The public’s use of chiropractic has grown dramatically in
recent years and is today at an all time high. A 1990 study and 1998
follow up study published in the New England Journal of Medicine
reported use of non-traditional healthcare grew dramatically during the
90’s, with chiropractic the most frequently sought type of
care.
The future of chiropractic in Australia is bright. According to the
2004-2005 National Health Survey, there are over
215,000 consultations to Australian chiropractors each week. More
GPs are recognising the role chiropractors can play in healthy
lifestyles, with patient referrals under Medicare Enhanced Primary Care
increasing.
